Venetian blinds are an excellent choice for your home because they offer total control of light and privacy. They are also fantastic for bathrooms, laundries and other areas that may get wet because they are completely unaffected by moisture. If you’re considering installing aluminium Venetian blinds in your home, you can find out more about their benefits here.
While you can lightly dust your Venetian blinds to clean them, you may want to remove them to do a full clean every now and then to get rid of dirt, grease and stubborn stains completely. However, if you regularly dust your aluminium Venetian blinds, you should only need to deep clean them once or twice each year.
If your Venetian blinds need to be cleaned or removed for any other reason, it’s actually very simple to do yourself. While it’s a very straightforward process, it’s important to follow the instructions carefully to minimise the risk of damage. Take a look at our easy step-by-step guide below, or check out our instructional video here.
Removing your Venetian blinds
1. Locate your bracket positions
They look like small metal squares and should be located at the top towards the ends of the blinds. If your Venetian blinds are too wide for one person to handle, you may need to get some assistance to avoid damaging them.
2. Open your Venetian blinds fully
Using the drawstring, open your blinds fully and pull most of the way to the top. This will allow you to get your fingers in between them.
3. Release the brackets
Place your fingers near the brackets and push towards the wall. Then grab hold of the blinds and tilt the back of the headbox out.
4. Safely store your Venetian blinds
Pull the remaining blinds up and wrap the cords around the blinds to ensure safe storage.
Reinstalling your Venetian blinds
Once you’re ready to reinstall your Venetian blinds, it’s a very simple process. If you’re installing them for the very first time, however, you’ll need to do a few other steps, such as measuring the window and mounting the brackets. Once you’ve purchased aluminium Venetian blinds from us, we offer careful, accurate, mess-free installation by our own Decor installers.
1. Unwrap the cords and lower the Venetian blinds
You only need to lower them enough to get your fingers in between them again. If you used two people to take the Venetian blinds down, you will need two people to reinstall them again.
2. Push the blinds back into the brackets
Put the front edge of the headbox into the brackets, then push back onto it until it clicks on both sides. You can then lower the remainder of your blinds.
Remember to be careful with your aluminium Venetian blinds because if you dent them, they are very difficult to bend back into shape, and it will damage the look.
